Dear All,

I have the following network setup in one of my branch office. The
main link is connected via a wireless modem at a distance of 100 KM.

Squid is acting transparently and is also the main router for clients
using public static and dynamic IPs.

The problem is that the wireless link gets disturbed due to
interferences and some natural causes like strong winds and thunder
showers.

I wanted to ask if it is possible to serve only the cached objects from
Squid when the main link gets down. If it's not possible, is there any
other way to go around the problem.

See the offline_mode directive in squid.conf. Have a script that monitors the link. When the link dies, toggle that directive on and tell squid to reconfigure. When the link comes back up toggle offline_mode off and tell squid to reconfigure.

Creation of script left as an exercise for the reader.
