Hello, I am trying to configure Squid 2.4stable7 on Mandrake Linux 9.0 for use with proxy authentication. I want to use the ncsa_auth module. I believe I have configured the options (so far as I understand them) correctly. However, when I set the proxy in my web browser to point to the squid installation on the server, I always get an access denied message. It never prompts me for my username and password. Any suggestions on what to change to make this work? I am posting the relevant lines of my squid.conf: authenticate_program /usr/lib/squid/ncsa_auth /etc/squid/passwd acl all src 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0 acl manager proto cache_object acl localhost src 127.0.0.1/255.255.255.255 acl SSL_ports port 443 563 acl Safe_ports port 80 # http acl Safe_ports port 21 # ftp acl Safe_ports port 443 563 # https, snews acl Safe_ports port 70 # gopher acl Safe_ports port 210 # wais acl Safe_ports port 1025-65535 # unregistered ports acl Safe_ports port 280 # http-mgmt acl Safe_ports port 488 # gss-http acl Safe_ports port 591 # filemaker acl Safe_ports port 777 # multiling http acl CONNECT method CONNECT acl validated proxy_auth REQUIRED acl allowed_hosts src 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0 http_access allow validated http_access allow allowed_hosts http_access deny all Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
