Thanks for the reply - it seems to be connected - I can see the ip of the machine streaming with netstat -a on the proxy machine; the page uses an active-x in IE and an embedded MSFT media player in Mozilla - do you suspect those players are doing something outside of the proxy?

 Are you sure the streams are going thru squid ?
 Check access log for details.
 On termination ; checkout :

    # netstat -a

 on the SQUID box.
