Hi Kumara, Welcome to the Squid list. On the questions you asked...I think they are too general. I would advise you to attempt to install your Squid using the FAQ. If you get into trouble then you can post to the list the specific problems you are encountering. 1. For firewall setup, refer to your Linux How-To documentation on iptables, etc 2,3 and 4. Use http://www.squid-cache.org/Doc/FAQ/FAQ.html All the best. Hi all, I have a very little experience with Linux, but, in the past three years I install and run FC1, FC3, today, I downloaded and made cd's for FC4 also. with a lot of readings and the help of the Asterisk mailing list I setup a asterisk server and it is running with a TDM card + Panasonic wireless analogue phone at the moment. that is my history in Linux. and I love Linux as well as open source community. Now, I want to setup a proxy server with firewall for my small LAN of 15 pc client. I hope to do caching for them too. I read out some tutorials of squid and read once the squid's "manual" also. but still I am not quite confident of configuring squid as per my requirements. I hope this mailing list may help me to learn it. So, Please give me some advice to start squid. my requirements are 1. configuring two network cards for firewall 2. configuring access policies/controls 3. setting up windows (IE) clients to squid 4. configuring the caching mechanism 5. other things that I should understand. (your valuable experience) please, advice me, send me links that is helpful to a newbie like me thank you Kumara -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus.
