Dear all, I´m running Squid on a FC3 SMP, and the server is a Proliant
5500 multiprocessor.
Recently, my squid is terminating abnormally with the following error:

FATAL: xstrdup: tried to dup a NULL pointer!

Squid Cache (Version 2.5.STABLE6): Terminated abnormally.

First upgrade to a current version (2.5.STABLE9 is the current release).

The version you are using is known to exibit this problem if certain patches had been applied (early versions of the concurrent_dns_lookups patch): http://www.squid-cache.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=852 but it is not clear from your report if any patches had been applied.

second if the problem persists, file a bug report per the instructions in Squid FAQ 11.19 Sending in Squid bug reports <url:http://www.squid-cache.org/Doc/FAQ/FAQ-11.html#ss11.19>

Why until these last days Squid doesn´t fail? It is running on a
production enviroment since 3 months ago.

Maybe one of your users changed behaviour slightly, or there was a configuration change?

Henrik
