So out of the impractical difficulties it would imply, drag-and-dropping directories and files in general from guest to host has never been for consideration...

Ouch, pity... Guess VirtualBox is still a technology with less limitations, for it does support the above with no problems. This would actually be an excellent addition for RedHat customers as well, since despite already existing the folder sharing method, dragging would make life even slightly easier.
I don't rely on folder sharing neither in Spice nor VirtualBox -though I have tested them-; at most what I've had to do is compressing the whole directory to make it a single file, then dragging it to guest.

For large contents I have even preferred USB stick passthrough...

You can use shared-folders Today instead. See folder sharing at
