be able to achieve the same by offseting lines and adjusting the
stride?
I did that at first, but the problem was that there are several places
in the code that assume that (chunk->len % stride) is zero (for example,
encoder_usr_more_lines), and I believe that adding the x-offset to quic
is safer than the alternatives.
