Ken, If you're talking about using the rhsetup option, you should _not_ have to do a mknod command and mount the DASD yourself. I've not seen that failure mode in the later ram disk images. The rhsetup script itself does the mknod commands dynamically, as well as the mounts later. David Sainty's inquiry about firewall setup is probably the correct path for figuring out your other problem. A 'medium' setting does not allow either telnet or SSH access. The enigma code i assume. I tried texted based and have had a number of problems (probably self caused). For instance, regarding dasd, had to use the mknod command then mount them. The rest of the install seemed to go good until I rebooted and found i forgot to move the modules over via 'instoco' per the 'How to install the LCS-,QETH-, and......on the Red Hat......' manual. : ) on ipl i have to insmod lcs and ifconfig and route to get the network up. Once the system is up i cant telnet OR ssh. i changed /xinetd.d/telnet 'disable=yes' to 'disable=no' and still fails. A tcpdump port 23 is ; 08:00:23.62184 172.16.131.153.2153 > 172.16.49.22.telnet: S 1055169396: 1055169396(0) win 64240 <mss 1460,nop,nop,sackOK> (DF) Ping works ok. xinetd and ssh servers are running.
