Actually, we do not deliberately do anything to break Linux running on
pre-G5 models - indeed we (still) have a Multiprise 2000 we test with.
However, we don't spend much efforts for pre-G3 machines either ...

Regardless of Linux' ability to run on pre-G5 models, please be aware
that certain middleware will eventually break due to math emu restrictions
on pre-G5 machines. Not deliberately designed for breaking, but their
requirements are simply not met.

At the moment, yes. We don't have older machines to test on.

Unfortunately we don't have the source. The package in SRPMS is just the
binary along with instructions on where to install it and similar stuff.
Our parts (the spec file - basically a script that copies things where
they belong) are GPLed.

Not unless you convince IBM to release the source.
