Double checked with my script adding double quotes to variable $a.
Problem seem to persist. I think RPM installations are not user
interactive.

No argument from me that it's correct, though it's the correct answer to
a different question.

Granted the original question was also phrased not so well, as if the
problem were with some aspect of RPM, when really the problem was with
how to write shell scripts.
