RE: diff b/w making an rpm with a spec file and doing it manually

What that 'manual' process does is creates a spec file on the fly, and
builds an RPM with it.  No magic there - it's impossible to build an RPM
without a spec file.

The entire purpose of RPM is to create a reproducable build environment
for a package.
