Except that I changed one thing in .rpmmacros:

%_buildroot     %{_topdir}/%{_tmppath}/%{name}-%{version}-root

to

%_buildroot     %{_tmppath}/%{name}-%{version}-root

(since _tmppath already includes _topdir)
