RPM Release Status

So what is actually considered to be the current
/release/ of rpm?

www.rpm.org still lists 4.1 as production

ftp://ftp.rpm.org/pub/rpm/dist/ has a 4.2.x directory
which would tend to imply it's considered production,
although there isn't a base tarball there, which
the previous releases have had.

And most discussion seems to center on 4.3 as the
current version, I presume that's available only
from cvs?
