Redhat 9 kickstart fails final step (bootloader)

I am testing a kickstart installation for use with several other systems.
Everything appears to work up to the last step which I think is setting up
the grub bootloader. The graphical installation remains with the watch
(please wait) cursor.

The F5 console screen displays the following as the last couple of lines:
      grub> root (hd0,0)
Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83

The F4 console screen displays the following as the last couple of lines:
      <4> VFS: Can't find ext2 filesystem on dev fd(2,0)
      <3> cramfs: wrong magic

The kickstart file I am using is based on the anaconda-ks.cfg with a post
installation script added. What am I missing?

Thanks,
