You want to query an rpm when you say /path/to/file? So file would be
package.rpm? Then you definitely must call "rpm -qp /path/to/rpm" or
using paramters -qpli i.e.

If you want to query an installed file coming from an rpm the correct
call is "rpm -qf /path/to/file" and it will print out the rpm from where
it comes.
