Yes, there's history :) I imported the Fedora GPG key into RPM and after that all I got was complaints about bad signatures (by the ID of the RedHat GPG key). I re-imported the RedHat key and after that everything disappeared.

Recover from what exactly?  Something tells me that there has to be some
history behind this.  Or are you saying that you booted the box up one day
and the database was suddenly truncated?
