Wojtek is absolutely correct. I looked at my .iso disk files. There's
alsa.
Somehow after I had booted with Core 6 and was having sound problems,
"yum info alsa" returned nothing. I am not really sure that I believe
what I just wrote.
At least I have learned how to read .iso files!
