i810 Audio driver=disabled

Hi everybody.

I have a Asus M2400N notebook with Intel ICH 4 architecture.

sndconfig identifies:
"Intel Corp. |82801DB AC'97 Audio"

BUT complains ... (original in german, thus probalby not exact)
"... is usualy supported, but currently deactivated. You can eventually
solve the problem by changing the BIOS settings to NO PNP OS."

Well, I would try that, but the BIOS does not support that. :-(

Knoppix, by the way, produces the same results.

Any ideas??
