I have been struggling with a problem with an AC97
codec and RH 8.0. I also have a RH 7.3 partition on
the same machine where this same codec works just
fine.

Any assistance appreciated.

following is my modules.conf
------
alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
alias eth0 tulip
alias scsi_hostadapter aic7xxx
alias sound via82cxxx_audio
post-install sound /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc
-L >/dev/null 2>&1 || :
pre-remove sound /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc
-S >/dev/null 2>&1 || :
alias usb-controller usb-uhci
