hi!
i couldnt wait for the moderator to approve of my
message, so i subscribed now, and here goes ..

im having some issues here with playing sound on my
laptop.
its a p4 running rh8.0:2.4.18-27.8.0

the soundcard that is detected when i do a sndconfig
is a 'sis7012 pci audio accelerator' and the mod is
'i810_audio'.

when i run audio_cd's, it works fine, and i can hear
it.

when i do a sndconfig, it detects my soundcard; but
when it tries to play a test sound, it fails - as in,
i dont hear anything.

so, i can play audio_cds', but nothing else here. what
should i try out?
i did an install of alsa, but i dont know what to do
with it, in case someone thinks i should be using
that, what should i change?

i hope the messages i add below here are enough for
someone out there to tell me what to do.
thanks a lot!

doing a dmesg gives me this towards the end:
