[Sound] Crystal sound

I'm trying to configure the cs4232 PnP card into RedHat Linux 6.2

I manage to configure /etc/isapnp.conf right, without problems

 

The modules loaded are:(in order)

sound

ad1848

uart401

cs4232

opl3

 

when I play a sound (not from X )

eg.

 

# play /usr/share/sounds/phone.wav

 

it gives a vague sound and then an error:

 

Sound: DMA (output) timed out - IRQ/DRQ config error?

ad1848: auto calibration timed out (3).

 

it keeps giving the message (3-4 times)

then the system freezes.

 

How do I resolve this problem?

 

My config (if needed):

 

P2 - 266 mhz, 64 MB ram

5 GB HDD
