Thanks Bill!

It turns out that I had put one too few "esses" in "esssolo". Now the audio 
comes through load and clear.

I still have the problem of not being able to record through the soundcard, 
though. When I try to record with snd I get the error message "no audio input 
devices available". 

Any suggestions?
