My suggestion would be to forget RH9 and install Fedora Core 3 or
something of that nature. RH9 doesn't support the new chipsets, and
there's no longer any support for it from Redhat. There is support for
it via fedora-legacy, and that's far and in-between.. I haven't seen
much from them either. There are some security updates now and then
though.
