Not even Fedora Core 2 included Samba 3.0.8. Only FC3 comes with 3.0.9: $ rpm -q samba samba-3.0.9-1.fc3 If you're installing other packages not made for Red Hat Linux 9, you're fully unsupported. Not even /usr/sbin/swat seems to work for you. Can't do anything for you if swat doesn't listen to port 901.
