supporting multiple gnome login's

I work in an environment with a nfs mounted home directory. There are
times when I end up being logged into 2 or 3 different computers at the
same time. Gnome 2 uses the same config files for all of these ending
up doing a good job of corrupting things.

Is there a way to have gnome store default information in directories
that are host specific, say like .gconf.hostname so that the environments
can co-exist.
