(Now why didn't I think of that right off the bat!?)
So have rpm -e'd the offending fonts.
Now, it wants to substitute Arioso bold (a cursive font) for the arial font. I have installed arial from the msftcorefonts and it shows up in gnome, but the ps files generated are still using arioso.
I can't quite remember how all this works.
I put arial*.ttf in /usr/share/fonts/default/TrueType and restarted xfs and my vncserver session.
It shows up in the gnome 2.2 font selector. But does that mean that evolution 1.2.2 which is a gnome 1 app IIRC can also see it? I seem to recall that I have to do something else to make gnome 1 apps see it.
