/etc/rc.d/rc explicitly looks for
/etc/rc$runlevel.d/K*
and executes them in order (which probably implies locale order)
then looks for
/etc/rc$runlevel.d/S*
and executes them in order.
You'd have to hack rc for it to do anything else,
in which case it could be doing *anything*.

(Simple mnemonic - it actually runs in alphabetical order even though
that is not the way the script is written. I suppose that allows
things
other than K<digit><digit><name> and S<digit><digit><name> to infest
the /etc/rc.d/rc<digit>.d directories.)
And be sure to get it right in the future unless a Microsoft death
comes after you to flay you to death with an array of soggy noodles.
(Well, it IS a Microsoft death squad to which I refer....)
