You don't have an IP. That's Y!! 
Few things could be happening..

1. your ESSID is not set or set incorrectly. (eg: you're
using your Home's ESSID at Uni and that just doesn't jive)

2. No Signal?? :)

3. You need to get an IP from the Uni's DHCP server (if they have on?)
if not, then you will need to get a static IP or something from 
an admin or ??

You can use redhat-config-network to set the essid.
or 
iwconfig eth0 essid "UniSSID"
ifconfig eth0 up

or if you're sure there's only 1 essid in Uni, put in "auto" in 
redhat-config-network or

iwconfig eth0 essid "any"

Thinsg like that..
