That does mean that the VESA mode (almost like a Windows safe mode)
video driver isn't working with your hardware which does make it a
little hard - even after install to configure xwindows.

Part of the install process allows you to configure - test - configure -
test etc and not move on until it works although you can pretty much do
the same thing after install and boot (text mode boot) by logging on as
root and entering
redhat-config-xfree86 --reconfig
on command line but this also requires some minimal VESA functionality
to work too I think. I dunno.


I had the same problem installing on one of my computers. I switched the monitor out with a better one and it installed fine, then I switched back to the older monitor and it worked fine.
