apparently you have to put the insmod command in /etc/sysinit

i believe that modules.conf is just for passing options to the modules

i usually just put /sbin/insmod <module_name> into the /etc/rc.local
file, or into a startup script if i need it at a specific time.

i would like a more thorough explanation of how to link a module into
the module path (emulex fibre channel drivers tell me that they are
"linking the module into the module path")
