Also ptal-init setup states:

Probe for USB-connected devices ([y]/n)? y

Probing "/dev/usb/lp0"...
   No device found.

Problem solved: The USB cable was broken. With a new cable I got all my oustanding test pages in queue immediately printed out correctly. Just wanted to let you know, thanks for all hints...
