Hi, What is the default location used for? Because every time I compile my kernel, I must copt /usr/src/linux-xxx/arch/i386/boot/bzImage and /usr/src/linux-xxx/System.map to /boot manually. When I found the difference between /boot/config-xxx and /usr/src/linux-xxx/.config, i just copied the .config to /boot and rename it as /boot/config-xxx, the system can not loaded at all?! So that is why I asked the function of /boot/config-xxx. Is there any options in make for me to customized the kernel and copy everything to /boot automatically? I think the default location is "/". Your new compiled kernel is probably installed under "/" if you haven't changed that. The config file for your new kernel will be in the same directory as the kernel's. > > > Regards, > Shan Jing > > Unix Group - Americas > Deutsche Bank > 2 Gatehall Drive, 3rd Floor > Parsippany, New Jersey, USA > shan.jing@xxxxxx > 973.682.3463 > > > > > > "Xiaonan Lu" > <zplxn@xxxxxxxx> To: shrike-list@xxxxxxxxxx > Sent by: cc: > shrike-list-admin Subject: Re: (no subject) > @redhat.com > > > 11/21/2003 11:18 > AM > Please respond to > shrike-list > > > > > > > Is the /boot/config-xxx be used during boot? If it is used during boot, with the old message in /boot/config-xxx, can the system load correctly? > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Xiaonan Lu" <zplxn@xxxxxxxx> > Date: Fri, 21 Nov 2003 10:43:18 -0500 > To: shrike-list@xxxxxxxxxx > Subject: Re: (no subject) > > > I built my kernel in /usr/src/linux-xxx, the .config in /usr/src/linuxxx is correct. but I just wondering why the one in /boot is not updated automatically? > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > > From: "Shan Jing" <shan.jing@xxxxxx> > > Date: Fri, 21 Nov 2003 10:28:49 -0500 > > To: shrike-list@xxxxxxxxxx > > Subject: Re: (no subject) > > > > > > > > where is your new kernel installed? /boot ? > > > > > > check the config file in /usr/src/linux-2.x.x, that's the one you use when compile the kernel. > > > > > > > > > Regards, > > > Shan Jing > > > > > > Unix Group - Americas > > > Deutsche Bank > > > 2 Gatehall Drive, 3rd Floor > > > Parsippany, New Jersey, USA > > > shan.jing@xxxxxx > > > 973.682.3463 > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > "Xiaonan Lu" > > > <zplxn@xxxxxxxx> To: shrike-list@xxxxxxxxxx > > > Sent by: cc: > > > shrike-list-admin Subject: (no subject) > > > @redhat.com > > > > > > > > > 11/21/2003 09:42 > > > AM > > > Please respond to > > > shrike-list > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi, there, > > > I am a new guy to this mailing list, and I am a new guy to linux. > > > I have a question about file /boot/config-x-xx. > > > I rebuilt the kernel recently to set the IP-NETFILTER to 'y', but in /boot/config-x-xx-x, I found it is still unset.
