In that case you should have downloaded

  glibc-2.2.5-44.i686.rpm

from the i686 directory instead of the i386 version.  Pentium Pro and
above belong to the i686 family. If that doesn't fix it, verify the
downloaded packages with "rpm -Kv *.rpm".

If you used a tool like up2date/yum/apt, it would choose the right
packages: http://www.fedora.us/wiki/FedoraHOWTO
