vim syntax highlighting

[shane c branch <scbranch@xxxxxxxxxx>]

i apparently hit some key combination inadvertently and now, for any 
file i bring up in vim, the # comment markers are highlighted in yellow. 
this is annoying, can anyone tell me how to turn that off, please?
