Cannot Umount of CD/USB - Device in Use/busy

I frequently have this issue..

I pop a cd/USB 128MB 'thumb drive' into the slot, nautilus to it, copy,
paste, etc.. then I want to unmount it, nautlius will say, device is busy
(etc) and is unable to umount!!. This happens sparodically. Sometimes it's
OK, sometimes it gets crazy.. telinit 3, umount, then back to telinit 5 will
(sometimes) work.

Any clues what's happening?

(hmm... maybe I should check my logs.. Haven't paid close attn to it)

ps: ps -fax | grep cd yields nothing.

AFAIK, there are no _other_ processes using the cd/usb drive when I wanted
to umount it..

Cheers, .^.
