Title: Kernel Recompile
Ok, I copied the bzImage to the boot directory.  Then I crated a link and called it vmlinuz.  The computer booted.  Did this work?

How can I tell which kernal I am actually running now?

I get a kernel panic when I copy the bzimage over the vmlinuz file.  Is this what I am supposed to do?

So, is the compiles kernel bzImage ???

Should it be smaller than the original kernal?

All I do is copy it over the original kernel and update the path in Grubconfig right?

I went through xconfig and modified the kernal with the things i need.  How do I get Make to use that result?  I use make bzImage, but that asks all the questions over again.

Any help would be appreciated.
