When *you* choose to reinstall instead of repairing the damage, that's
your personal preference. Not everyone is familiar with repairing a
damaged Linux system. But please don't mislead subscribers by claiming
that the suggested fix didn't work. It would have worked. It's just
that you may have needed step-by-step examples from someone... as well
as patience and interest in learning how to put rescue mode to good
effect.
