Creating ramdisk > 4MB

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi,

i've been trying to make use of the ramdisk feature of linux . I am in need of a RW partition at boot time which can be created using the ramdisk ..
i did
#mke2fs -fvm0 /dev/ram1

but, i cannot create a ramdisk of size > 4MB ,and i actually need a 32MB ramdisk.
#rdev -r /dev/ram1 16384

does not work either .. (i'm not very sure abt the rdev command)

Is there any means by which i can bypass the 4MB limit of ramdisk dynamically .
for eg .. by changing some entry in /proc ?

I am using RH 9.0.

regards,
Anoop.
