I *can* type anywhere I please.

However there is NO mechanism to put some (e.g.) ">>" prefix in quoted lines
showing them to be quoted, so my input between the quoted line looks like...

I've been avoiding this thread, but now I'm curious.  I don't think you
are the first one to mention it.  As someone that hasn't used GroupWise,

..this...

how does it prevent you from typing your response after the quoted text?

...which isn't very good, in my never-very-humble opinion...
...and my alternative (the way GroupWise was designed to be used) is to post RTF/HTML...
..barf...
