Thats amazing -- I had this problem and could not get it to work till I
disabled it from the BIOS. I did not touch the linux part at all. I don't have
my laptop with me but if you go in through BIOS and disable, you should be
fine. I have Dell C850 but the problem exists with  others also such as IBM. I
am not sure it exists with all laptops though.
