i think you need to change the order, according to the protocol of how tasks are specified in /etc/rc.d/rc5.d directory. ( for user level 5 ) For instance, the automount task is no. 28 ( S28autofs ). Not sure which task is the other one you need to bring forward. check out this article on ibm's site regarding tasks performed at boot time: http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/linux/library/l-boot.html regards, -ionut- news@xxxxxxxxxxxx Sent by: To: shrike-list@xxxxxxxxxx shrike-list-admin cc: @redhat.com Subject: change boot order 10/01/2003 07:16 PM Please respond to shrike-list Hi list, I run RH9 on an old laptop with only a PCMCIA-Ethernet Adapter. To use this box on work, I have to mount the company's /home. I am relatively new to Linux, but I am nearly sure, that Linux first tries to mount all /etc/fstab filesystems and then starts the PCMCIA-Adapter. This means, that I always have to mount the /home manually. Is it possible to change the order of jobs done while booting linux?
