My startup file skills are pretty poor. I dedicated all my spare time for an entire month trying to setup an equivalent in Windows 2000 several years ago with no luck. I had less support and information back then than I do now and also with Linux but it left a bitter taste with remnants in my mouth. As I said earlier, I had started playing with it in RH 9 and was successful making an install even though it wasn't configured the way I planned. At least it sorta worked. Can KickStart setup users, folders, etc.? And what about things like samba.conf...any hope in it setting that up to? Years back I was known as an expert in creating DOS batch files. I imagine that if I commit myself to a good study of Kick Start I might spoil myself too. That would certainly be to my benefit for sure. Thanks I got my file server operational finally, now all I need to do is touch up about 4 things and learn how to duplicate it with Kickstart, drive image, etc. BTW, I noticed a very nice feature to the Red Hat install. A few days ago I came across my old RHL 8.0 HDD from a Compaq or HP computer I used to test it on a year ago. I plugged it into an IBM and it recognized that the hardware had changed, deleted the old drivers and installed the appropriate ones. While Windows does this sometimes, I usually locks up when you change motherboards. It may be that RH can be safely used with disk images where windows would lock up. Thanks again. I cannot remember the last time I did a non-kickstart install. I am really spoiled by it. :-) -- ......Tom Registered Linux User #14522 http://counter.li.org tdiehl@xxxxxxxxxxxx My current SpamTrap -------> mtd123@xxxxxxxxxxxx -- Shrike-list mailing list Shrike-list@xxxxxxxxxx https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/shrike-list
