To make a long story short, I want to take mail sitting in a Qmail Maildir/new directory for a given user, and selectively take certain mail messages and stuff them into another users Maildir/new directory. This is a one time need. I can grep the Maildir/new directory to identify the files that need to be move. My real question is what is the best way to do this? Can I just mv them to the other persons Maildir/new directory so that person can get them via POP3 without massaging the Deliver To: and other routing info inside the message? Do I need to read each message with a Perl script, make adjustments in the Deliver To: etc and resend them to the other person as new mail? Can I just read each file, fix certain fields (Deliver To:, etc) and write them to the other persons Maildir/new directory? Is there a known procedure on how to go about this safely on a production server?
