Hi!
I am trying to make an i386 SMP kernel from RH9's updates src rpm
"kernel-2.4.20-20.9.src.rpm"
I installed the src rpm, edit the kernel-2.4.spec, turn on the buildsmp
in it, like:
%ifarch i386
%define buildsmp 1
%define buildup 1
%endif

then use
rpmbuild -ba --target i386 --target i586 --target i686 --target athlon
--sign kernel-2.4.spec
to make it, but it failed in

*** Check the top-level Makefile for additional configuration.
*** Next, you must run 'make dep'.

The following defaults are missing:

make: *** [oldconfig_nonint] Error 1
error: Bad exit status from /home/steven/rpmbuild/tmp/rpm-tmp.3445 (%build)

RPM build errors:
Bad exit status from /home/steven/rpmbuild/tmp/rpm-tmp.3445 (%build)

Does anybody know how to create a i386 SMP kernel ?
Thanks in advance.
