Ok, this used to work when I used Solaris but for some reason it doesn't with RH9.
A friend uses my server as a secondary MX for his own domain. His cable modem has been horribly unrealible lately so his E-mail ends up coming to my server. Unfortunately my server is rejecting the E-mail with the following error:
The original message was received at Fri, 12 Sep 2003 11:49:58 -0500 from server [127.0.0.1]
----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors ----- <mark@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> (reason: 553 5.3.5 system config error)
----- Transcript of session follows -----
553 5.3.5 mail.mydomain.com. config error: mail loops back to me (MX problem?)
554 5.3.5 Local configuration error
I thought I had this set up right. I have hisdomain.com set up in my /etc/mail/access like this:
hisdomain.com RELAY
Yet it still doesn't work. The MX is set up properly as his E-mail is coming to my server when he's down, it's just not being held properly by my server.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
I've tried adding a mailertable entry like so:
hisdomain.com smtp:mail.hisdomain.com
That didn't seem to make a difference.

There is a fine line between genius and lunacy, fear not, walk the line with pride. Not all things will end up as you wanted, but you will certainly discover things the meek and timid will miss out on.
