I am having a heck of a time getting an external enclosure to work with a Dell 1550. I _think_ it is a hardware problem but I am not sure what hardware to look at. I have a 2.4.18 SMP kernel, an Adaptec 29160 card and I am using the AIC7xxx driver version 6.2.4. I have tried different combinatons from three to seven different drives -- three Seagate ST136475LW and four IBM DDYS-T36950N -- put togehter in a RAID0 stripeset. Total cables length is in tolerance for LVD. During reads or writes, sooner or later, the following errors start appearing in the log and usually the system locks up.
