Orinoco Gold cardbus 802.11b cards are very well supported under both XP
and Linux. I've heard LinkSys and Cisco access points are too, but since
I've never owned either I can't personally vouch for them.

Stay away from D-Link. In my experience they are one of D-Worst vendors
I've ever had to deal with regarding Linux [non-]support.
