That may be, but in my case it did not close the connection until I restarted
xinetd:

[root@xxx root]# chkconfig sgi_fam off

[root@xxx root]# netstat -naup
Active Internet connections (servers and established)

BTW, what problems will my system have if sig_fam is not running?
