I agree that it appears that the server is having trouble connecting to
the client but amanda-client is indeed installed...

# rpm -qa|grep amanda
amanda-2.4.2p2-4
amanda-server-2.4.2p2-4
amanda-devel-2.4.2p2-4
amanda-client-2.4.2p2-4
