granted, but for those who like their new kernels gift-wrapped, there's
http://people.redhat.com/arjanv/2.5.  full RPM, plus the upgraded 
utilities you need.

sure, it takes a little work to get the *first* one going, but after
that, it's the same amount of work.

anyway, it might be right for some people but not others.  the only
point i wanted to make was that it's not as scary as you think.
